If you have seen my previous article then you would know what the term “Luddite” means. If you haven’t then here is a simple definition: ” a 19th century movement. The movement was against the industrial revolution of machinery; the employers wanted to take people’s jobs away and replace them with machines.” A few nights ago I spoke to Logan Lane – the one who created her own Luddite Club in New York. Now, because of her and others there are 10 clubs across the country! She was very kind and even gave me advice to start my own.
Throughout the past few months I have learned more of myself and soon will begin creating my own process of getting a flip phone. I don’t really use my iPhone because I deleted social media apps (Instagram, TikTok (before it was banned), and twitter.) off my phone. Even through my day to day – I don’t take it with me! Social media has impacted me throughout my whole life. It has impacted the human race, whether it is news, jobs, etc. We are built on top of it – as we are a part of it as well. I want to start my own club because I want to surround myself with people who look at the deeper meaning, not just what’s on the surface. I think it’s important we speak about social media – not just the negatives but also the positives.
My club will welcome anyone who wants to join. You can journal, color, or even meet new people! If you have any feedback – please let me or Ms. Janicki know!
Our first meeting will be Wednesday Februrary 5, 2025 in Mrs. Janicki’s room 212 from 2:05- 3:05. Hope to see you there!
