On December 18, 2024, The Harford Tech Cobra’s Wrestling team defeated the visiting Mount Carmel Cougars 51-23 on their Alumni Night. This matchup featured many close and hard-fought victories, however, many wrestlers believed that this victory was not enough. And as the Cobras Wrestling Team seeks to win their second state title since 2006, this win was a tense victory on the record of their 2024 campaign. And with a talented roster of wrestlers, more is desired by the team as they eye their stretch of matches down the road, and potentially further.
We interviewed some standout players to ask about their opinions on this recent match the following morning. And with one simple prompt, being “What was your biggest takeaway from this match?”, many perspectives were shared, with one collective theme in mind, making wins look better.
“We struggled a lot in the beginning, and then, Cam Moore won, and then after that we struggled again, up until Christian Donlick wrestled. Some of our wins were sloppy though, a lot to keep working on.” – Nicholas Gibson, 157, Freshman

The most common belief among all of these wrestlers is that the box score doesn’t always tell the full story of a win. There were many great matchups, and dominant wins, but many of them could have been better in the eyes of these players.
