After the unfortunate closing of AMC, The Flagship Premium Cinemas reopened in Churchville on November 8th of 2024. Some may recognize Flagship, as they were previously open in this location over 20 years ago. Branding themselves as a luxurious and premium cinema experience, many were drawn to the heated seating and full recliners. As a community, it is great to have the cinema experience revived in the era of streaming services.
Recently, I have visited Flagship and have been pleasantly surprised. Around the opening time, I went to see Wicked in theaters, excited to experience the new luxurious cinema. I had a great experience, even going back more recently, to see A Complete Unknown. I must say, the interior alone is a big improvement from the previous AMC. Though AMC might’ve been nostalgic for most, I can admit that Flagship did an amazing job at reinventing space. The interior is a representation of that same slogan, a luxurious and premium cinema experience. I was particularly impressed with self-serve refreshments, a significant upgrade from your typical movie theater. We all know the stereotypical experience, getting there early just to wait in line for your popcorn and drinks until the movie starts. I expected this, arriving at the theater early like I normally do. However, at Flagship I was able to grab my drink and popcorn before the previews even started!
Now, the important question is, how was the movie? I can say that both times I enjoyed my experience while watching. The luxurious theater motivated me to see more movies, something necessary as some of my greatest memories are in the cinema. As I said, in the era of streaming services, the revival of cinemas is important for both the young and the old. The heated seats and full recliners elevating your typical movie culture. The seats are both comfortable and spacious, allowing you to spread out and get comfy. I was able to recline almost all the way back, turning the theater into my bedroom. I was surprised by the comfort, a massive upgrade from your typical theater seats. I have many memories of being uncomfortable in my seat, unable to spread out and sit in a comfortable position. Though, these new seats are almost like laying on your couch and watching the movie at home! Really, there’s no reason not to go out and watch a new movie.
