At 7pm on April 11th, Harford Tech put on their yearly play; this year, the play “Matilda” was chosen. In the movie, a young girl named “Matilda” discovers her love of reading while putting up with her stuck-up parents and brother, all while dealing with her evil principal and strange new telekinetic power. Harford Tech managed to adapt the movie into a wonderous musical, which captured every aspect we saw on screen along with so much more!
With dozens of cast members and stage crew, Harford Tech incorporated aspects from the original 1996 movie and the newer 2022 movie “Matilda the Musical”. It was truly awesome seeing all of the cast members quickly changing roles to fit the scene; I myself saw one single actor change outfits and characters 3 times in the course of 4 minutes, showing the dedication that the students and school brought to this production.
All in all, the opening night of this funny and marvelous play was a success, bringing loud applause from audience members and staff alike. And with two more showings until Matilda leaves Harford Tech, we all know that the final moments on stage will be the best we have ever seen.
